Brit nets £58,100 first prize
The 2011 GUKPT got off to a storming start this week, as 207 runners registered for the opening event in Manchester and Peter McAdams became the first GUKPT champ of the year.
Bracelet-winners, EPT champs and British legends were among the stellar field at Manchester’s G Casino, but it was McAdams who left with the $58,100 winner’s cheque, seeing off 2010 GUKPT Manchester champ Kuljinder Sidhu among others on a quality-ridden final table.
As big names like Lawrence Gosney followed Sidhu onto the rail, McAdams was left to battle it out with Daniel Charlton for the bumper payday. And their heads-up bout lasted just a few minutes before McAdams’ pocket Kings crushed Charlton’s 9-8 on a nine-high flop, leaving Charlton with just a chip and chair.
A comeback wasn’t on the cards and McAdams, like many others, will be looking forward to the GUKPT’s next stop in London on March 9.
The final table payouts were as follows:
1 Peter McAdams £58,100
2 Daniel Charlton £39,350
3 Allan Mclean £25,350
4 Dan Brown £15,000
5 Simon Cawley £11,400
6 George Geary £9,300
7 Osman Mustanoglu £7,250
8 Lawrence Gosney £5,700
9 Kuljinder Sidhu £4,150
