Isildur1 defeated by Isaac Haxton in the first SuperStar Showdown
Mystery Swedish pro Isildur1’s his first online showdown as part of the PokerStars team ended in defeat, as challenger Isaac Haxton – philivey2694 – took down the match finishing $41.7k in profit after 2,500 hands.
The much-anticipated high-stakes match saw each player committing $10,000 to take part in a four-table $50/$100 heads-up No Limit Hold’em showdown. Both players had a $150,000 bankroll and agreed to play until either their money ran out or for 2,500 hands, with thousands of railbirds logging on to watch the action unfold.
And the game began in Isildur1’s favour, who was $9k up after only 15 minutes and pushing hard. Haxton rebought but trailed to the Swede for most of the match. After 1,500 hands, Isildur1 was up $31k and looking the likely victor.
But then Haxton made a comeback with a string of kickers that stole some sizeable pots. Roughly 1,850 hands in, Isildur1’s chip lead had fallen to $1,299 lead and a game-changer soon follwed, with Haxton taking down a $20k pot with a pair of Kings and a 9c kicker to Isidur1’s Kh 7h.
And Isildur1’s fate was sealed after a monster $40,000 pot in the final hand. The flop came 5h 9d 3d, with Isildur1 holding a Jh 9c and Haxton, Kh 9h. Isildur1 bet $1,500 and Haxton called. The turn brought a 2h, and once again Haxton flat-called a raise from Isildur1 – this time to the tune of $3,800. Then the river came down giving both players two-pair and leaving the Swede to move all in for $15,932. Haxton made the call and won, once again, with the better kicker.
Isildur1’s next showdown challenger is yet to be confirmed.
