It might feel like it, but you don’t need to be in Las Vegas to play poker for serious cash this summer. The 2015 GUKPT Reading festival is underway now with side events and satellites running daily, and the £500 buy-in £100k guaranteed Main Event kicking off on Thursday.
Last year UK poker legend Willy Tann almost took the trophy home, but he lost heads-up to Paul Nunes who pocketed £29,200. Tann took the consolation prize of £22,800 and the satisfaction of knowing he can still mix it with the best. Can you?
268 players bought in last year, but the festival ran after the WSOP in 2014. With a lot of players currently out in Vegas there could well be an overlay on the £100k guarantee. You can get in on the cheap as well, with £20 NLH Super Satellites running daily Mon-Thurs at Grosvenor G Casino Reading at 4pm.
In addition, there’s a £50 NLHE side event this evening at 7.30pm, a £150 NLHE tomorrow and a £100 6-max NLHE on Wednesday. Day 1a of the Main Event starts Thursday at 1pm with Day 1b on Friday. The fields merge on Saturday and the final table plays down to the champion on Sunday.
