If you’re a fan of PokerPlayer on Facebook or follow us on Twitter, you’ll have noticed our recent Giveaway Weekends. Each and every Friday we pose a question and the best responses win either a pack of PokerPlayer playing cards (perfect for your next home game!) or a 12-month digital subscription to the world’s best poker magazine.
The live poker scene was the subject of last week’s giveaway, when we asked:
‘When you plan on going to a poker tournament in 2014, what will be the main reason that makes you attend?’
Thanks to everyone who took part and contributed to the discussion.
The winners!
Jonathan Tandy on Facebook felt there were four key elements that influenced his playing decisions. ‘1. The brands – I always wanted to play a PPUKT and finally did in Brighton. 2. Online satellites. 3. The structure, which needs to allow for lots of play. 4. The social side of the event.’
Brand loyalty gives you an idea of the sort of tournament you’re going to play and the players you might meet when you get there. Online satellites make live events more affordable and let you play for decent prize pools for a fraction of the buy-in!
@mcbrideace on Twitter said if he is playing he wants to be able to have fun – a philosophy that’s close to the PokerPlayer heart. ‘The chance to play live, have fun and banter at the table and play for a nice prize.’ Having fun AND winning money – what more could you ask for?
Location, said @muppet1413 on Twitter. ‘A nice place with lots to do away from the felt, easy travel links such as a train within the UK or an airport if the event is elsewhere in Europe.’
Look out for the next Giveaway Weekend on Friday around lunchtime on either Facebook or Twitter. Join in the conversation and you could bag yourself an extra Christmas present. We’ve got packs of cards and digital subscriptions of the magazine ready to throw at you!
