TV poker revolution

The upcoming Grosvenor UK Poker Tour on Channel 4 looks set to blow all other shows out of the water

We’ve obtained a sneak peek at the TV coverage for the GUKPT, and it’s got us very excited indeed. Set to air this summer under the production team behind Channel 4’s award winning cricket coverage, it’s fair to say that poker will be back on your screens with a bang. ‘This will be the most in-depth poker coverage ever seen in this country,’ said Chris Chaundler, series producer for the show.

In a smart move, the GUKPT Show will dedicate two one-hour shows to each leg, allowing viewers to see more of the nuances in the game as opposed to the 15 hands usually shown in the onehour format. And, Chaundler promises they won’t be full of clips explaining hand rankings, saying: ‘There has been a plethora of shows using every gimmick imaginable, but the shows everyone loves are the ones where the poker really counts, like the WSOP. ‘This is where PokerScope comes in; it fi lls in the gaps so we can see what the players see. We’ll also be able to look at things like luck, which have been ignored until

We can’t wait! The only bad news is that you’ll have to wait until August for the show to be broadcast. It will all build up to the grand final, which will be shown just days after it takes place.
