1) SwankPoker.com
What is the internet famous for? Porn and online poker. SwankPoker.com capitalised on this in 2008 by combining the two. Their VIP rewards scheme really helped them stand out – for just 100,000 FPPs you could direct and star in your own porn film. Juicy.
2) ReeferPoker.com
ReeferPoker.com was an online site for people that liked to smoke marijuana. It’s an unusual idea but by focusing on online poker players, at least they got their target audience right.
3) ComeOutPoker.com
Nobody was asking for a site dedicated to the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered Community – but that’s exactly what ComeOutPoker.com delivered in 2006. The site came and went quickly but they did leave a mark with an innovation called Come Out Hold’em, where straights don’t count. Genius
4) FreeGoldPoker.com
The craziest thing about this free to play poker site is that they thought it would be a good idea to get all-round nugget Jamie Gold to endorse it. It’s unconfirmed at this point if you get bonus chips for getting it all-in with top, top!
5) GoalPoker.com
In 2006 football-themed poker site GoalPoker.com thought it would be a good idea to fly a ton of journalists out to Ibiza for an all-expenses paid week watching the World Cup. The company went bust mid-flight….but the PokerPlayer team had a lot of fun!
