WPT tournament earners
1. Daniel Negreanu, $5,355,307
Gus Hansen may have won the most WPT titles (four) but Canadian Daniel Negreanu is by far the most successful. Back-toback WPT victories in the Five Diamond Classic and Borgata Poker Open at the end of 2004 saw Negreanu scoop almost $3m in as many months.
2. Tuan Le, $4,480,643
Tuan Le won the $25,000 WPT Championship event in April 2005 beating British player Paul Maxfield in the heads-up battle for what was then the highest prize money outside of the WSOP.
3. Michael ‘The Grinder’ Mizrachi, $4,080,720
Mizrachi hit the live poker scene at the beginning of 2005 coming fifth at the World Poker Open and winning the LA Poker Classic for a combined cash-in of $2,148,150. Since then he’s cashed in seven more WPT events, including a first place finish at the 2006 Winter Poker Open in Borgata.
4. Alan Goehring, $3,843,105
Goehring won $1m at the WPT Championship in 2003 – the first of 12 cashes that has seen him become a near ever-present on the tour. Goehring took his second WPT title at last year’s LA Poker Classic winning a further $2,391,550.
5. Joe Bartholdi Jr. $3,760,165
Bartholdi is in the top five on the basis of winning last year’s season finale. The record $14,671,250 prize pool created a first prize of $3,760,165.
