It’s Vicky Week in the PokerPlayer office as we celebrate Victoria Coren Mitchell’s outstanding achievement in becoming the first two-time winner on the European Poker Tour. And as such, it’s only fair we dedicate a video feature to the record-breaking Team PokerStars Pro!
5. Vicky Coren vs. Jan Sjavik – EPT London, 2005
Three-handed in her home casino, with an EPT title on the line, Coren three-bets A-J and overshoves a T-T-9 flop. Her Norwegian opponent tanks, and tanks, and tanks… before finally making the call with 3-3. Unfortunately 43% was just too big a number to fade for Jan…
4. Vicky on your Tea-V
Multi-talented, it’s not all poker for Queen Victoria. Along with writing regular columns in The Guardian and Observer newspapers, she also hosts the quiz show Only Connect on BBC Four and appears frequently on Have I Got News For You and Newsnight.
Here’s a great clip of her on Room 101, talking rather passionately about that olde English staple, tea..
3. All you need to know about Vicky
The music at the start may not be the most cheerful, but this short video documentary – presented by PokerStars – does a superb job telling you all you need to know about the recent EPT San Remo winner.
2. Vicky Coren vs. Emad Tahtouh – EPT London, 2005
By flopping a straight (must be nice) and winning this hand, Vicky Coren became the first female winner on the European Poker Tour! With it came fame and fortune… £500,000 of it to be precise.
1. Vicky Coren vs. Giacomo Fundaro – EPT San Remo, 2014
If you weren’t watching on Easter Sunday then shame on you; you should know by now that poker comes before family. Sadly you missed poker history being made, as Victoria Coren Mitchell, railed by one of the biggest ever audiences on EPT Live, became the first two-time champion on the European Poker Tour!
Lucky for you we have James Hartigan with the PokerStars round-up. Something tells me he won’t be allowed to forget “IT’S A BRICK, IT’S A BRICK” any time soon…
