Josh Arieh vs Greg Raymer vs Dan Harrington vs David Williams, 2004 World Series of Poker Main Event
You don’t need good cards to win the pot , you just need to know when to make your move. The question is, would you have the balls to do it at the WSOP Main Event final table? Dan Harrington is one of the shortest stacks at the table when he decides to put half his chips in the middle on a stone-cold bluff, executing what ’s now considered the perfect squeeze play.

LON McEACHERN (ESPN COMMENTATOR): And Dan’s chances are getting better every minute, he has about nine percent of the chips right now, so according to his calculation… an 18 percent chance of winning this, and he’s got over 2.3 million chips. Raymer dropping just below the eight million count now. The action is to Josh Arieh, from Atlanta, Georgia, looking at K-9 offsuit, and he’s going to raise it to 225,000. Greg Raymer has been the action man at this table, he’ll call. Dan Harrington now.
NORMAN CHAD: He is on the button, and that’s last to act. Those are rags.
DAN HARRINGTON: I’m going to raise it.
LM: Those are rags, Dan… 1.2 million!
NC: This is action you don’t normally see from Action Dan. This is a huge bluff he’s trying to execute, two players are already in. If we couldn’t see his hole cards we wouldn’t know he’s trying to make this type of play.
LM: Now over to David Williams and he’s got A-Q unsuited! Those are good cards but a tough decision for the young player. Three players in before him, one of them, Harrington, just put in a million chips, David will fold.
NC: And Harrington has a reputation for being very tight. That’s why he can try and execute this bluff. He senses weakness in his opponents but he’s hoping his reputation will help them drop their hands.
LM: It worked on Arieh… Now Raymer to act with A-2 suited.
NC: Inside of Dan Harrington he’s trying to transmit a message to Raymer: ‘Get out, get out!’
LM: Dan would be in serious trouble if Raymer did call this… Raymer folds! Dan Harrington adds half a million chips to his stack, bluffing with 6-2 offsuit. Now that’s poker, baby!
