After five long days of poker the 650 players that entered the €10,600 EPT Grand Final main event have been whittled down to the final table of just 8. Starting at 1400 CET/1300 GMT today Le Sporting casino in Monte Carlo will host one of the most prestigious final tables of the poker year, with the eventual winner taking home €1.24m.
Unlike last year, when Messrs. Negreanu, Cody, Mercier and Lodden all combined to create one of the most stacked final tables of all time, the 2014 lineup doesn’t contain one certifiable poker superstar. However, that’s not to say that these players are slouches by any means. Chip leader Jack Salter (pictured), from the UK, has been carving out a great reputation in the last year, winning an Aussie Millions side event and finishing third at UKIPT London. He’ll certainly be the favourite to follow in Victoria Coren Mitchell’s footsteps and become the next UK EPT champion.
Elsewhere, a fascinating story is developing with 23-year-old German player Sebastian Bredthauer, who qualified into the main event for just 100 FPPs on PokerStars. It’s his first ever live tournament and, needless to say, the minimum €128,800 he already has locked up will be by far the biggest score of his poker career.

€25,000 High Roller
While the EPT Live cameras will be focused on the main event, the €25,000 High Roller will the one many really want to see. It’s filled with stars, including Scott Seiver, Phillip Gruissem, Martin Finger, John Juanda and UK sensation Stephen Chidwick. The first prize in that is €1,105,000 – it should be a final table to remember.
